Good vs. Evil

good

This one is going to be a little bit of a rant based upon the awful, evil assassination attempt on former President Trump. And I know in my last Logicast, I said I may not be posting on this platform anymore for a while. But I’m gonna continue for a little while longer, and simply incorporate more of my personal beliefs into everything. Because I believe we are in a battle of good vs. evil, now so more than ever in this country. And it is sorely needed, as evidenced by the recent and tragic events over the weekend.

The whole reason I started Logic Mind & Health was to help people who are struggling, or who have struggled like myself with mental challenges: whether that stress, anxiety, fear, depression. Even though I’m not clinically trained, I believe we all can and should try to help in any way we can. Over the years, I realize that this is not only a passion of mine, but more so a calling.

And it’s a calling to take this platform one step further. Yes, it is absolutely vital that we take care of our brains and try to improve our mindset because everything stems from the way we think in our beliefs. But that next step has to be God, through the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. Period. End of story. And there’s no other way around it.

Because God is the source of our healthy thoughts. Of our healthy actions. God is the pure act of willing the good of others. God is beauty. God is goodness. Perfect, infinite, unlimited, love and beauty and goodness. And that was shown to us physically, in the flesh, through Christ. And when we set our minds on Him, and flood our brains with that type of content and surround ourselves with those kinds of people, we simply don’t commit horrific acts like we just witnessed.

And yes, obviously people can be loving and good and beautiful without believing in God or being Christian. But, in my opinion, when you participate in those non-physical, divine, transcendent aspects of reality, you are participating in God whether you believe it or not. Because that’s what God is.

And that’s what’s so disheartening and disappointing about the social landscape of the United States today. We have mainstream media and social media driving us apart from each other and dividing each other and pushing fear and extremism. And it happens on both sides of the political aisle across all political and social spectrums. And I pray that it stops or at least gets radically better very soon.

We can and should have our differences, but we also can and should rationalize those differences as human beings. We should have those tough conversations. We should push each other in good, healthy ways to grow and understand different viewpoints. But we should be able to do that and at the same time control our emotions. We should be able to manage our anger and our hatred. But unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be happening very often. And our media and the algorithms of social media are stoking those flames.

Because the more emotional you are, the less rational you are. And they know this. And I’m sure you can intuitively sense that as well. That’s why everything that you see on the screen or at least most things are emotionally driven. And they’re usually driven in a direction of anger or fear or combativeness. Because that’s what draws out attention and draws out action. But it’s leading to greater evil.

And this is the crux of this platform. Develop a strong prefrontal cortex, which governs rational thought and self-control, and helps you better manage the emotional aspect of the brain, the limbic system and the amygdala. It’s honestly that simple. May not be easy, but it is that simple. We need to help each other understand how our brains work and how to develop a strong prefrontal cortex. And there are very specific practices I talk about at length that do just that – meditation, mindfulness, prayer, journaling, gratitude, diet and exercise. And then we also need to help each other, once we have better control over our emotions, lean into those beautiful and good thoughts and actions.

Now I know this platform is relatively small and I don’t put nearly as much time, effort and money behind it as I should. But for anybody listening to this, I hope and I pray that you take some extra time today to think about your life. To think about your thoughts. To think about your loved ones and to go out of your way to tell them you love them. And help them if they are struggling with something. And to take more actions that are rooted in beauty and goodness. To answer your calling, through prayer and willing the good of others. To learn about the life and teachings of Christ – what he did and said. To research His existence and look into the historical, the extra biblical, the archeological evidence for His existence and the truth of Christianity. Because it’s extremely strong and life changing.

There is a right way to live. There is an objective moral standard. And I believe wholeheartedly that there is a loving, beautiful personal God who made a choice to create us and bless us with those same attributes. And God is the source of health and well-being because those attributes benefit us physically, psychologically, spiritually, and lead to deep meaningful connections and relationships. And that’s what life is all about. God is the source of and standard of living which we should all focus our lives on as much as humanly possible.
